I Saw the Devil

Kim Jee-woon

A serial killer murders the wife of a National Intelligence Service agent. Boy does the agent get angry. He then begins a game of catch-brutalize-release. It’s a dark form of punishment that never fully feels like revenge for the agent.

Choi Min-sik delivers. He’s strange, deluded and convincingly cold. Lee Byung-hun plays his part well, too, but the role demanded less of him comparatively.

Not much to say about this film. It was dark. It was brutal. It passed a Saturday night. I don’t need to watch it again.
